🧪 Gator beta feature 🧪
This feature is new to Gator and may change. Have questions or feedback? Email us at help@gator.works.
When you schedule a Gator message in a Slack DM or group DM, you can turn on early delivery for that message so that Gator delivers it as soon as one of your recipients comes online in Slack. By default, though, all Gator messages start off with early delivery disabled, and you must turn on early delivery for each Gator message after you create it.
Some users gave us feedback that they would like all their Gator messages to be delivered early, when possible. To enable that behavior for your Gator user, run the following command in Slack:
"/gator beta-default-early-enable"
You'll see a confirmation like this:
Now every new Gator message you send to a DM or group DM in Slack will be delivered early by default. You can confirm this setting is working correctly by sending a test Gator message to yourself:
First, set your Slack availability to "away" (Gator won't let you send an early delivery message to a recipient who is currently active in Slack, because then Gator would deliver the message immediately!). Next, open your Slack DM with your own username and send yourself a new Gator message. You should see in the confirmation message that Gator will attempt early delivery automatically. Change your Slack availability back to "active" and Gator will deliver your message a few moments later.
If you change your mind and want to disable early delivery by default on your messages, just run this command:
"/gator beta-default-early-disable"
